چکیده

methods in this article we checked the derived data from 20 relevant studies published during the last 20 years in international scientific literature at other country except iran and 10 studies from iran. the variables dose-area product (dap), fluoroscopy time, number of sequences and frames per sequence were collected for each ca, ptca, rfa and diagnostic electrophysiology and then the obtained mean values, were compared. results published results indicate that patient radiation doses vary widely among the different interventional cardiology procedures but also among equivalent studies. by comparing the mean values of dap and the fluoroscopy time obtained in the studies carried out in iran with other studies in this field in other counties, it is revealed that these values in iran were lower than the outcomes of other studies in the world. background interventional cardiology procedures result in substantial patient radiation doses due to prolonged fluoroscopy time and radiographic exposure. the procedures that are most frequently performed are coronary angiography (ca), percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (ptca), diagnostic electrophysiology studies and radiofrequency catheter ablation (rfa). when complex procedures are performed or procedures are repeated for the same patient, high-radiation dose levels can occur because procedures often require long fluoroscopy times and require high-quality images. conclusions this difference was due to the high knowledge and experience of the cardiologist in iran and type of justify patient. objectives the objective of the study is to review patient radiation doses from interventional cardiology procedures in the iran and the world and comparison between them.

Evaluation of Maximum Patient Skin Dose Arising from Interventional Cardiology Using Thermoluminescence Dosimeter in Mashhad, Iran

Introduction The increasing practice of interventional fluoroscopy in diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease has risen attention to improve radiation protection of patients and cardiologists in these relatively high dose techniques. Therefore, nowadays there is an emphasis on the measurement of radiation dose received by patients and cardiologists arising from the relevant procedures...

Radiation dose and image quality for paediatric interventional cardiology.

Radiation dose and image quality for paediatric protocols in a biplane x-ray system used for interventional cardiology have been evaluated. Entrance surface air kerma (ESAK) and image quality using a test object and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) phantoms have been measured for the typical paediatric patient thicknesses (4-20 cm of PMMA). Images from fluoroscopy (low, medium and high) and cine ...

Patient dose values during interventional cardiology examinations in Yazd hospital, Iran

Background: The number of interventional cardiology (IC) procedures has increased rapidly. coronary angiography (CA) and percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) are now widely performed as a matter of routine, and they are considered safe procedures for experienced cardiologists. However, it is also known that these procedures are associated with high radiation doses due to long f...

ionizing radiation-induced cataract in interventional cardiology staff

results the electrophysiology laboratory staff received higher doses of ionizing radiation (17.2 ± 11.9 msv; p < 0.001). there was a significant positive correlation between the years of working experience and effective dose in the lens (p < 0.001). in general, our findings showed that the incidence of lens opacity was 79% (95% ci, 69.9-88.1) in participants with exposure (the case group) and o...

Patient Radiation Doses in Interventional Cardiology Procedures

Interventional cardiology procedures result in substantial patient radiation doses due to prolonged fluoroscopy time and radiographic exposure. The procedures that are most frequently performed are coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary interventions, diagnostic electrophysiology studies and radiofrequency catheter ablation. Patient radiation dose in these procedures can be assessed either...

Controlling radiation exposure in interventional cardiology.

T he idiom " double-edged sword " describes the use of ionizing radiation in the field of medicine. Medical radiation from x-rays and nuclear medicine is the largest man-made source of radiation in Western countries and although it has benefited patients there is an associated liability or health risk that is unavoidable. A 2009 report by the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measure...
